Ruidoso Middle School is home to the district's sixth, seventh and eighth graders; no
longer children and not yet adults. The goal of the administration and faculty
is to provide these students with the best education possible, to ease the
transition from elementary to high school, and to guide and assist them through
this special and sometimes overwhelming time in their lives.
The mission statement of Ruidoso Middle School declares itself "committed to cultivating respect for the individual, encouraging students to make sound personal choices and decisions, while providing the academic skills and knowledge essential for continued success and life-long learning."
The school's instructional programs include math, science, social studies, language arts and reading. RMS also provides a wide variety of exploratory classes, including, physical education, agricultural mechanics, life management, Publications, Art, Band, Choir, and computer technology.
Often at this age, children begin to exhibit more interest in competitive activities. Physical abilities, as the student matures and should they express an interest, lend themselves to organized sports activities. Ruidoso Middle School has a addressed this by offering competitive athletic programs, including basketball, volleyball, track, and football.
With its desire to meet goals and adhere to its mission statement, Ruidoso Middle School provides the quality education and knowledge necessary to prepare its students for their passage into the upper grades.
